Iguazu falls

So after 5 days of licking my wounds in Salta I finally left for Iguazu falls. Of course the trip was not without incident.

With a 12 hour lay over in Resistencia, I checked my rucksack into the left luggage office at the bus station and went to look around the not very interesting town. I’m sure the man assured me the office was open 24 hours, but when I returned for the midnight bus to Iguazu he was nowhere to be found and the office very locked. With 2 minutes to bus departure I eventually persuaded (with the help of a few pesos of course) one of the baggage handlers to break into the office and rescue mi mochila.

And so to the spectacular Iguazi.

1. Iguazu from a a speedboat moments before we plunged into one of the waterfalls. Please send new waterproof camera.

2. One of the many spectacular falls that combine to make up Iguazu

3. Even Victoria Falls gets a mention on the famous river Zambele. I wonder if that’s anywhere near the Zambezi.

Just one word of advice. If you go and visit the falls from the Brazilian side you must remember to ask the bus driver to stop at Brazilian immigration. Otherwise he continues straight through, and you find yourself in Brazil without any record of having entered.

If in this position I suggest you do your best to look like a local and use a local bus to cross the border. (Locals get waived through for some reason). This worked perfectly for me, but not so for the 3 fair skinned extranjeros sitting at the other end of the bus, and who I believe are just starting to get used to prison food. Very very squeaky bum time.

Next stop Buenos Aires and the Creamfields music festival this Saturday

  1. Ed, check the website – it was in October…

  2. Ed have fun at the music festival, sound like you might be a bit too old for this kind of thing but hey you are still young at heart innit ??

  3. Sounds like this was the best planned trip of all; with a slick baggage handover and an administrative free border crossing.
Unless you are still under Mikey’s desk of course. Hmmmm not spotted by Mikey you say – perhaps Mikey is enjoying your presence too much :-o

  4. Hi Uncle Ed
Been catching up on your last few adventures and amused to see that there is lots of adventure!!! Bit concerned that there doesn’t seem to be much mention of teaching/working and being “Alumno estrella”. Maybe you really are under Mikey’s very posh, newly situated, great view and lots of natural light, desk! Glad to see that you’ve stopped mentioning 21 year olds for the time being!! Your blog is better than Corrie and Emerdale! xxxx

  5. Sparky, Mikey has very nice legs, and I’m pleased to say is older than 21.
Hola Caroline, don’t worry there have been lots of stars involved. Unfortunately it always seems to be around 5 in the morning on the way home from a club :-)

  6. Ed, Those are the legs of the desk. You seem to be getting very confused. Do you think it’s age related?

  7. No Sparky, they’re my legs. They’re just slimmer than you remember…

  8. …. and smoother. Mikey are you sure your not a girl?

  9. I have never seen Mikey’s legs, I have no idea what they looked like then and I don’t know what they look like now now either.
    But they were alwsys smooth!
